OT: Dumbest PPC newsgroup request ever! Anyone from Australia or New Zealand that canhelp?

Obviously this isn't PPC related at all, but since we've got a great
collection of regulars here from around the globe, I thought I'd take a
shot- I'm looking for some help for my son from someone with a sense of
humor and a child roughly the same age as mine, give or take a few years...

I'm "up" here in the Northern Hemisphere, and my 9-year old son is doing a
school Science Fair project on the Coriolis Effect (that causes storms to
rotate counter-clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise in the
Southern) and the myth that this also causes small sinks, toilets,
bathtubs, etc. to always drain the same way in their respective hemispheres.

Inspired by an episode of "The Simpsons" where Bart calls an Australian
student collect and asks him to check his (and his neighbors') toilets to
see which direction they drain there, my son thought it would be
interesting to compare his findings with a student in the Southern
Hemisphere as to which direction the various sinks, etc. drain in his or
her house to compare to ours.

Anyway, he and I were hoping we could find a "foreign correspondent" from
the Southern Hemisphere, around 7-12 years old or so, who wouldn't mind
filling/draining and or flushing the various sinks, basins, tubs, toilets,
etc. in their house noting which direction the water spirals down the
plughole, and report the findings to support or refute my son's hypothesis.
If you've got a willing school-aged child, you can reply to me by e-mail,
(replace "AmericaOnLine" in my address with it's better-known and maligned
three-letter acronym!)

Thanks in advance for any possible help, and I apologize to the group for
the (far) off-topic post!

Hey, I can attest that the standard rotation is different, but can also say
it is difficult in words to describe what it means to be going clockwise or
counter (anti?) clockwise as far as toilets draining. In this day and age, I
bet you can even find a youngun willing to use a cell phone or PDA video
camera to immortalize the findings for visual comparison. Just a though.

The direction of rotation is nothing to do with hemisphere.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corioli...oriolis_Effect
"A misconception in popular culture is that water in bathtubs or toilets
always drains in one direction in the Northern Hemisphere, and in the other
direction in the Southern Hemisphere as a consequence of the Coriolis effect."

http://www.snopes.com/science/coriolis.asp
Claim: The Coriolis force influences which direction water spirals down
drains and toilets in different hemispheres.
Status: False.
