| Installing new flash cards in my PPC I just bought 2 new cards -- 2 GB SD and 4 GB CF -- for my Axim X51v. Is there an easy way to transfer all my stuff from the old cards to the new ones and have the programs run just as before? I ask this because I copied the contents of the old cards to the new ones, put the new ones in the Axim, and except for the programs in Main Memory, none of the programs on the new cards can be found. It says that either the software is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of the components cannot be found and I might need to reinstall or restore this file. I do not want to reinstall my software. What am I missing? Do I need to tweak the registry and tell it the serial numbers of the new cards or something like that? | Re: Installing new flash cards in my PPC Look in the file-explorer, if You have access to Your new cards. If not, maybe the Axim X51v can not work with cards of this size or the format of the filesystem on this cards is wrong, so Windows CE can not access it. e.g. my Fujitsu-Siemens Pocket Loox can not work with SD-cards, that are bigger than 1GB. Cards with bigger size work only in an adapter in the CompactFlash-slot on my device. :( Kind regards, Helge |

| Re: Installing new flash cards in my PPC Are you sure you copied the original root directory to the target root? That is, is the directory structure the same with the two (original and new) cards? Also, don't forget that you can't interchange SD and CF cards. That is, don't copy the contents of the SD card to the CF one and vica versa. -- -- Werner "Menneisyys" Ruotsalainen - Microsoft MVP - Windows - Mobile Devices Please see the Pocket PC Mag Expert Blog (including mine) at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ - you will definitely like it. | Re: Installing new flash cards in my PPC You may have missed hidden and system files... suggest copying using a card reader on your pc... set file explorer folder options to show hidden and system files fileexplorer/tools/folderoptions/view then copy the entire card to a folder on your pc swap cards copy the entire folder contents (not the folder itself) to the root of the new card. I suspected that this is what happened .... I must have not copied hidden or system files. So tonight I went old school -- fired up a DOS window and used XCOPY to make sure I got system and hidden files as well as the directory structure. Both cards are now working fine. Thanks to Werner and Helge for their replies also. Regards, Wayne Moses Houston, Texas |

| Re: Installing new flash cards in my PPC Forgot the real reason for the post... take a moment and assure that long filenames were copied correctly when you used XCopy... should be ok, but remember some cases when long filenames were lost doing so... back when it was XCOPY and XCOPY32 Beverly Howard [MS MVP-Mobile Devices] |

But on the other hand I am consistently using a 2Gb SD card, although less than half full so far... Mike. -- |
