Data From Pocket PC To Smartphone?

I have an iPaq 4155 (Pocket PC 2003). I'm looking at buying an iPaq 6945
Smartphone. I'm wondering what is the best way to transfer my Contacts
and Address Book from the Pocket PC to the Smartphone?

Thanks!
Scott

Arne,

I use Outlook Express. Would the same procedure apply?

Also, I have contacts on my Pocket PC that I entered manually over the years.
Any way to transfer them to the smartphone?

Thanks
Scott

Nope.

I'd stick with Arne's advice. Odds are good that your new device will
include a 60 trial of Outlook. If not, pretty sure you can find it at
http://www.microsoft.com/outlook/

Install it, Sync the 4155. That'll get all your contacts into
Outlook.
Now Sync the new device. That'll pump 'em all over.

As Chris mentioned before, Outlook Express (or Windows Mail on Vista) isn't
supported but you should either got a trial version of Outlook with your new
Smartphone or you can download it from the web.
Install it first, after install ActiveSync from the Microsoft Windows Mobile
website, connect your Pocket PC, sync everything to Outlook (you can even
export/import contacts from Outlook Express to Outlook) and sync everything
back to the Smartphone. Done! :-)
Sure, this might take half of the day but in this case you can be sure to
have everything (including appointments, tasks) synced to your new device;
doesn't matter if you entered it on your PC or your Pocket PC.

You may also want to give a try to either SKTools or PIM Backup. Both of
them have excellent PIM transfer capabilities. See my related tutorial.

Is HP the only WinMobile oem which no longer includes outlook as part of
the purchase price?

No. Looks like they are all moving that way, due to the problem of the
version they used to supply (old so probably cheap) not being compatible
with Vista.
