| Platform ID codes for manufacturers In the 16 byte unique device ID, the 1st four bytes are supposed to be the manufacturer's ID (PlatformID?) and the remaining 12 bytes are the "Preset ID" (the unique device number within the Platform ID). Together, the two form a unique device ID. Does anyone know where I can find a list of those Platform ID codes? Not the code to read the information. I already can get the device ID, I just don't know how to tell who made the device from the data I already have. | Re: Platform ID codes for manufacturers Experimentally, I believe that HTC is 00-50-BF-3F-51-73 and Palm is 00-30-BD-2E-B5-14. I don't know which one Motorola uses. I don't believe the list is documented publically. I think that blog entry also underestimates the confusion around this value. You'll find the structure and implementation vary widely across devices and manufacturers. We've tried to fix this in the WM6 OEM requirements.but there are backward compatibility concerns so I think they will change fairly slowly. -- Scott Yost Software Development Engineer/Test Microsoft Corp. That's probably why Vanitha was so vague when she put me on to the 1st four characters being the representation of the manufacturer. :-) -- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP MS Exchange FAQ at http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Don't send mail to this address mailto:h.pott@getronics.com Or to these, either: mailto:h.pott@pinkroccade.com mailto:melvin.mcphucknuckle@getronics.com mailto:melvin.mcphucknuckle@pinkroccade.com |
