menu item not in windows\start menu

WM5 - I have some shortcuts on the start menu below the items listed under
Windows\Start menu and above the Programs and Settings folders. Installed by
programs, how can I remove them from the Start menu

You can use FileExplorer to browse the device, and when you find the
shortcuts, simply hold the pen down over each and select Delete form the
menu that appears.

If you can plug it into your desktop, use ActiveSync's Explore option...

Re: menu item not in windows\start menu

>> how can I remove them from the Start menu <<

The root of the start menu (\windows\start_menu) is controlled by
start/settings/personal/menus/startmenu and you will run into problems
if you try to manually remove or add items in that specific directory.

all of the "menus" checkbox options come from shortcuts located in the
programs folder off of the start menu, so, remove startmenu items using
the above interface, then use file explorer to remove and add programs
to and from the programs folder and below.

Re: menu item not in windows\start menu

Those are the Most Recently Used (MRU) items. They populate as you use
programs. Turn the display landscape (if yours can) and you will see a bar
of the same icons just below Start when you click it. Not sure if you can
get rid of them entirely. With a registry editor you can delete what is
there, but it will just regenerate the list. I don't recall if one of the
Reg hack programs lets you at least reduce the number of listed apps, or
maybe even set it to zero. You could Google for MRU hacks for WM5.
