| PDA Recommendation with GPS I usually do my own research on products and am pretty good, but I've spent ages on this and am getting nowhere. I'm looking for a pocket pc pda and wondered if anyone had any suggestions? Requirements: - GPS (Required) - WIFI (Required) - Bluetooth (Required) - 480 x 640 (Like to have) - Windows Mobile 6 (Like to have, but there again 5 should be fine) I don't need: - Built in keyboard (I prefer the soft keyboard or full sized bluetooth) - Phone (I have a phone. But if it has it I suppose it doesn't matter) I've considered: - Fujitsu Siemens Loox N560 ... powerful, good screen and well made, but the wireless seems bad; the initial GPS is slow - Mio P550 ... well made, but questions about the battery - Asus Mypal A696 ... just out, cheap but not many reviews yet. - Acer 530 ... small ... perhaps too small - HTC P3300 ... ouch. How much? - HP iPAQ hw6915 ... i don't really need the keyboard and it looses too much screen. Alternatively, I suppose I could go for a separate bluetooth GPS and go for something like an Ace 311. Thanks. Any help would be great. |

The wireless is bad if (and only if) you use the built-in program called Connectmobility/E2C. That program messes up Wifi so seriously that the only way out is a hard reset. The good news are the you don't need that program at all and that Wifi works very well without it. As for the GPS, I don't think it is slow once you have established the first fix and are within a reasonable distance from that position. It is not as fast as my Garmin GPSMap 60CSx but then few GPS'es are. Ebbe |

| Re: PDA Recommendation with GPS - Ebbe, I've found a Loox N560 for about £265. it's a shame that Fujitsu Siemens appear to be dropping out of the market. - Thanks for the listing Krip. That's really helpful. I'd not heard of the X800. But again, it's starting to look really expensive at about £400. Would you say that Windows Mobile 6 is significantly better than 5. (I've come from an Ipaq 2210 with PPC2003 so anything is probably going to be a significant improvement!). Looking at http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/cellphone...yle-245389.php I've got to admit it doesn't look that much better unless you're a road warrior. |
