| Automatic Network settings? I have an HP iPaq hw6945 with WM5 on T-Mobile. This is an unlocked device. I have figured out by trial and error that I need to have 2 sets of network connections. 1 for the internet and one for my LAN. My lan uses a proxy server and I have both Active Sync cradle connections and WiFi. I would like the device to be able to automatically connect the internet connection to the WiFi or USB/Active Sync/Proxied connection when available and to the GPRS/EDGE no-proxy wireless connection otherwise. Currently I have to manually switch these settings which is a PITA. Is there a program which I can install to do this automagically? Thanks Edwin |

Have you tried playing with the "Select Networks" settings? To get my unproxied Wi-Fi to "fall back" to my proxied cellular data, I put my Wi-Fi settings ("My Work Network") in the top box (Programs that connect to the Internet...") and my Cell data network ("T-Mobile Data") in the bottom (Programs that connect to a private network...) This handles auto-switching for IE and Windows Live Search, but Messaging still can only use whatever connection you specify in each accounts options (I leave e-mail set for cellular data.) If you need more flexibility you might want to check out Pocket Zen Phone- IIRC, it allows you to create different profiles and select them with a single tap. -- "I don't need my cell phone to play video games or take pictures or double as a Walkie-Talkie; I just need it to work. | Re: Automatic Network settings? I've been looking for the same thing. I tried PocketZenPhone and couldn't find network switching capabilities (might be there, but couldn't find it). However, I have PhoneAlarm, and ran across this: http://www.iaccarino.de/silvio/stuff...ilerReadme.htm Going to try it out. caz "Todd Allcock" <elecconnec@AmericaOnLine.com> wrote in message news:iTeEi.9068$5D.4923@fe099.usenetserver.com... > At 07 Sep 2007 00:13:03 -0500 Edwin Smith wrote: >> I have an HP iPaq hw6945 with WM5 on T-Mobile. | Re: Automatic Network settings? I just tried that but it didn't work. My situation is the opposite, my WiFi goes through a proxy and the T-Mobile doesn't. I'll take a look at the links you posted. | Re: Automatic Network settings? I looked at the PZP homepage but it is very light on documentation and doesn't say whether it will actually switch the network configuration. I already have HP Profiles utility but it doesn't switch network configs either. I don't want to spend money on such a sketchy product and then find out it doesn't do what I want. The seller should showcase his product better.
