syncing mobile outlook and outlook 2007

Using a pocket pc phone, I often want to check my mail and send
replies. However, pocket outlook can't send or receive mail, just sync
with desktop outlook.

Is there a way to send and receive mail on my phone while away from my
pc and have it sync with my desktop when I return?

Simply use a POP-account on both devices. The server will synchronize the
e-mail with your desktop.

I can't send outlook mail on my pocket pc. I can send via another pop3
account on the pocket pc but that doesn't sync with outlook

That's normal (unless you're using Exchange)- Outlook mail is meant
to be synched with Outlook and then sent from the desktop.

Correct- POP has never really worked well with multiple devices,
since it's hard to keep track of what device has pulled what e-mails
and when.

The best multi-device solution, IMHO, is IMAP- that way every device
(desktop, laptop, PDA, phone, etc.) all sync with the e-mail server,
and all have access to the incoming, sent, (and even deleted!) e-mails,
as well as the current state (read or unread, replied to or not, etc.)
