Remote controlling a PPC?

Hi.

Is it possible to remote control a PPC which is connected to my PC with
activesync? Like some kind of VNC?

If yes, how can it be done and what do I need to do so?

Thanks
Michi

Re: Remote controlling a PPC?

I believe there is a mobile VNC server available - unfortunately I don't
have a link.

Check out the articles at
http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ind...blog=3&cat=164 - they will answer
all your q's.

In general, TODAY, I recommend either SOTi Pocket Controller Professional
6.0 (absolutely the best controller, but it's commercial) or, if you don't
want to pay, MyMobiler.

Re: Remote controlling a PPC?

I agree with Werner. #1 is Soti Pocket Controller Pro, while MyMobiler
(which is free) is the "value" bet.

Re: Remote controlling a PPC?

There's a Remote Display PowerToy around, although I've never used it on
Windows Mobile. It's not scriptable or programmable. It just shows the
screen contents and allows you do click or type and sends those actions to
the device.

*What* do you need to do?

Re: Remote controlling a PPC?

I would recommend "SOTI Pocket Controller" www.soti.net

Re: Remote controlling a PPC?

Michi,

Yes, you can control your PPC from your PC.

On the PC you need to install Windows Mobile Developer Power Toys from
Microsoft. After installing this, check the readme file. There is an
executable that must be copied to the \Windows directory of your PPC.

You must install the right one for your device. The Power Toys come with
these files.

Once installed, check your Start menu for the ActiveSync Remote Display.

Enjoy,

KMS2

Re: Remote controlling a PPC?

Gotta say the premier way of doing this is SOTI Pocket Controller. Not the
cheapest thing in the world, but it does the job pretty much flawlessly.
http://www.soti.net/default.asp?Cmd=...s&SubCmd=PCPro

Don't know if there are some cheaper or even free ways left out there
(someone will chime in), but you can't go wrong with SOTI

Re: Remote controlling a PPC?

If you really want to go the free way (i'd still recommend Soti's Pocket
Controller), use MyMobiler instead - it's definitely faster than Windows
Mobile Developer Power Toys.

Please check out my related review.

And it's so basic that, for instance, it doesn't recognise working in
landscape mode (which you'd think wouldn't be so tough to do).

Also not having the hardware buttons represented limits its usefulness too.

Mike.
