I am trying to uninstall active synce 4.5 to install an older version, but
when I do this it will not allow me to do this after uninstalling the newer
version of the active sync. It tells me that I have a new version installed.
Does anyone have any suggestions here. I tried searching the registry
(regedit) and was not able to find anything. I am not that familiar with
doing this in the first place...

The ActiveSync 4.x removal is not complete, so you need to do some
extra work before installing and earlier version. I didn't remember
details, so used google
(http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search) to look up
uninstall activesync 4
in this newsgroup and 244 hits. The second was a 27-28 December 2005
thread called "Removing ActiveSync 4.1?" that provides a recipe.
