| Memory Partioning Hi, I have just gone from a PSION Workabout ProC with Windows Mobile 2003 to one with Windows Mobile 5. On the ealier model you could partition the memory with a slider control, this options seems to be missing in the later model. Does anyone know how to change the partition? Many thanks in advance |

If you go to running programs, then memory, it looks the same but now no slider. |

| Re: Memory Partioning You can't do it any more as RAM is only used for dynamic execution, not for static storage. Also see my articles, I've discussed this q in several of them. -- -- Werner "Menneisyys" Ruotsalainen - Microsoft MVP - Windows - Mobile Devices Please see the Pocket PC Mag Expert Blog (including mine) at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ - you will definitely like it. | Re: Memory Partioning Fred, In Windows Mobile 5 and 6, the way RAM and ROM are treated are different than in previous versions. Essentially it is more akin to your PC now: RAM runs applications and ROM stores them. The Windows Mobile Team did a great article on this back when Windows Mobile 5 came out. You can read it at http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/...14/438991.aspx. It is based on Persistent Storage but you will get the idea. Further, Werner has posted several good articles related to this over at PocketPC Magazine in the Experts Blog. The bottom line is that the previous need to balance between program memory and storage memory has been eliminated by the way RAM and ROM are used in the newer devices.
