SD Card power requirements

I have a Dell Axim x51v and I am having trouble accessing the 4GB SD
card that I bought for it.

The card simply does not show up in the File Explorer sometimes.

I have an old 1GB card that I used before and it shows up with no
problems at all.

I have been trying to find a reason for this and I am wondering if
there is a slight difference in the power required to run the
different cards.

It could account for the sometimes aspect and the card does show up a
lot more readily when on the cradle (plugged in).

Can anyone out there help me?

To expand, afaik, no SDHC cards are supported by any ppc's at the moment.

However, there were also some axim large card support problems, so, it's
google and Werner site time.

Re: SD Card power requirements

I don't think it's a power issue - memory cards, in general, consume VERY
little power, particularly when not actively being written to.

>> SDHC <<

Check the sd card type... if it's SDHC it's not usable in pocketpc's.

If it's not SDHC, post the make/type and we'll go from there.

Re: SD Card power requirements

It is a Transcend SD 4GB card, I am not sure if it is SDHC or not.

Not so. Some WM6 devices support them.
