Re: Ipaqs loosing programs changing batteries

Do all the Ipaqs require restoring backed up data, and programs while
changing batteries? Every time I change the battery I have to restore it, is
their some way to maintain programs while changing are all these designed
this way please? Thanks
Dave

Are you using back up batteries?
What Ipaq are you using?

The model you're using is important since some
models have peristant storage.

Re: Ipaqs loosing programs changing batteries

I'm using a HP ipaq hx2410. I'm changing the main battery that pops out the
back of it. It has the ipaq backup program pre installed in it.

Why not charge it? You do know it is rechargeable?
Have you installed back up batteries?

The back up batteries hold the device over while the main battery
is changed/charged.

Re: Ipaqs loosing programs changing batteries

The backup battery shows 100 percent, yet I loose everything when changing
the batteries. Apparently Something is wrong with the unit, and it's not
under warranty. If anyone knows of a good place to get this fixed reasonably
please let me know. Thank you
Dave

Maybe the back up batteries are bad but the meter is not functioning
correctly?

I always make it a practice to replace every backup batter on
annual basis even if the meter shows they are good. I even have
a note in the calendar to replace the backup batteries each January.

Consider it insurance for your precious data.

Oh and ask Dell Axim X5 owners how accurate the backup battery
meter is.

Re: Ipaqs loosing programs changing batteries

If nothing else helps, consider upgrading to WM5 - then, you won't have
problems like this.

(Of course, the iPAQ hx2xxx WM5 upgrade is a double-edged sword with major
problems.)

Re: Ipaqs loosing programs changing batteries

I heard the same about the upgrades, and also complaints of slow / poor
performance after upgrading as well.. At least the ipaq backup utility
allows restoring from the SD card without the use of another computer :-)
guess I'll have to live with it this way.
