The screen brightness on battery is set to medium but each time I set the
machine on the brightness sets itself back to 0 and my screen is then not
much readable. I have to go back to settings to set it back to medium. I
noticed that if I press the On button a bit longer, it sometimes sets the
brightness back to medium automatically.

Also the keyboard backlight behaves strangely. It sometimes comes on, even
in bright light, and I have not found the setting to correct this.

I have used this machine for 18 months without any problem and I just
changed the battery so the battery is new.

This fault is provoked by the new battery because if I put the old battery
instead, everything is back to normal.
