I have a 2490 and suffered similar problems ie. on some mornings the
ppc had lost all its charge and at other times the "on" button did
nohing but a soft reset brought it into life.

I could not find any reason why the problem happened sometimes and not
others.

I read about SD cards possibly causing problems so I switched to a 2G
compact flash and, 2 weeks later, I have not had a reapeat of the
problem.

(anyone want to buy a jinxed 2G SD card -:)

As it turns out, my problem was solved by the "fake server hack."

But last night, I found my Pocket PC on again. I have no idea what it
is now.
