| PPC address unavailable While i was trying to figure out why I cannot establish a Bluetooth ActiveSync connection ( the devices won't pair ), I discovered in the Bluetooth settings, accessibility tab, device identification section, that the address is "unavailable". Could this be the reason why the pairing does not occur ?? Thanks. Mike |

| Re: PPC address unavailable Acer n30b. WM 2003. It is so frustrating, when I try to pair the devices, I input the PIN in the laptop window and do the same in the PPC. However, I cannot do what I am asked in the PPC window, i.e. " input PIN and click OK ", because.... there is no OK button, only the "X" to close the window. BTW, I tried different PIN's ( forgot the old one ) or even no number at all. Is it OK ? Should I use the old one ? If so, how do I retrieve it. Please help. Thanks. | Re: PPC address unavailable As I said, not on the PPC. What I see is : the PIN window, "Cancel" right below and "X" in the top right corner, instead of "OK". The instructions say : "input PIN and click on OK" ( which doesn' exist ). And I'm stuck. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Jaap van Ekris (MVP)" <nospam@nospam.com> wrote in message news:uEjtBHgnHHA.4032@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > The PIN should match the one on the desktop, as long as that is the case, it will not > matter what you put in. But as Jaap asked, can't you just hit a carriage return (on the soft keyboard) after entering the PIN on the PPC to "ok" it? (BTW, are you running a task manager on the Acer? I sometimes find that task managers occasionally mess up ad display an X where an "ok" should be isplayed. Try disabling the task manager and run the pairing again. If not, try the pairing the other way around- initiate it on the PPC instead of the PC (you'll need to turn "discovery" on in the PC first), and see if you can "ok" the PIN in that dialog box. Just out of habit I tend to start pairing from the PPC. (Probably because it's easier to find the pairing software there!) |
