ActiveSync not syncing when appointment times change and reminder changes...

Hello,

We have several windows mobile devices working with exchange and am
having this problem universally.

The following is performed either way (outlook>device,
device>outlook):
When an appointment time is changed (I'm always shifting
appointments), the new time doesn't reflect on the device. Also, if I
delay the reminder, the new reminder isn't reflected.

I have a feeling this is just the way it is (unlike a blackberry).

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Matt

Certainly your appointment time changes should by synching, regarless
of
whether the change is on the PC or the mobile device. However,
reminder
delays are a different story. Delaying a reminder on the PC will
effectively cancel the reminder on the mobile device. (If you don't
want
to lose the reminder alarm on the mobile device, don't delay or
dismiss
it on the PC.) Delaying a reminder on the mobile device has no affect
on
the PC reminder. (Go figure!)

Cheers,
John

So, the delayed alarms don't carry over?

For which John replied:

Not quite:

1.
if you dismiss or snooze an Outlook alarm notification on your
PC, it will cancel the alarm notification on the mobile when it syncs
2.
if you dismiss or snooze a Pocket Outlook alarm notification on
your mobile, it will NOT affect the PC Outlook alarm (that
notification will still occur)

To be more accurate, these comments apply to Windows Mobile 5. #2
still applies for Windows PocketPC 2003. I seem to recall that case #1
behaves differently in some way.

The short of it is that you cannot rely on alarm delays to be synced
back to the mobile device. If you want to be sure that your mobile
device will resound an alarm that is snoozed:

*
don't dismiss or snooze the alarm on the PC
*
only snooze the alarm when it sounds on the mobile device

Please also note that many users have been having problems with
unreliable alarms on PocketPCs running WM5. I have not yet seen a
trustworthy response to this issue from the user community.
