Will Microsoft, cellular company or phone manufacturer provide Mobile 6.0 upgrade?

I've got a Cingular 8525 (which a rebranded HTC device)
running Windows Mobile 5.0.

I'd like to know who, if anyone, I can expect to provide a
ROM image for me to upgrade my phone to 6.0. Will Microsoft,
Cingular, or HTC be providing such a thing? Or is it just a
pipe dream?

Thanks.

Re: Will Microsoft, cellular company or phone manufacturer provide Mobile 6.0 upgrade?

Generically, since it is a Cingular branded device, an upgrade would have to
come from Cingular. If you had an unbranded device, the I-Mate (vendor) or
HTC (manufacturer) equivalent, you would need to get the update from them.
This is not an indication any of these will be providing them. If HTC were
to provide an upgrade, and Cingular didn't, it would be conceivable that you
could install it on your Cingular device, but neither HTC nor Cingular would
accept responsibility for any problems. The HTC version would also not be
identical to any Cingular version that might be produced. Cingular specific
apps, and features would most likely not be available, and settings would
need to be manually entered.

Now, is Cingular going to release a WM6 update for the 8525? From what I
have seen on the net, it appears that Cingular will provide an upgrade in
the June time frame.
