Half Screen on Toshiba Laptop

My step daughter took my laptop to school and fell landing on the laptop.
Now when I boot up I get only the top half of the screen and no sound. All
the files are there and when I connect a mouse I lose the pointer when I go
into the lower half of the screen.
Anyone else confirm that it's either the screen its self or is the graphics
cards not working?
Any idea if it's worth repairing?
The laptop is a: Toshiba 2250 XCDS
Celeron 600
64 meg Ram
6 gig Hard Drive
Trident Cyber 9525 Graphics Card
Running XP Pro
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Half Screen on Toshiba Laptop

IMO, considering the laptop specs, probably not really worth looking into.
How fast was it running xp? 64megs of ram really isn't a whole lot for that
OS

Re: Half Screen on Toshiba Laptop

Almost certainly the screen itself. It's worth repairing if you can get
a replacement screen CHEAPLY.

Re: Half Screen on Toshiba Laptop

Checked out a friends shop and he quoted a minimum of $200.00 if he can find
the part used, said not worth putting new screen on. One laptop down one
left but she's not getting her hands on my Dell. LOL

Re: Half Screen on Toshiba Laptop

You may well be able to find the LCD panel on E-Bay for $30 or so.
Changing it is trivial (for someone who knows how), about 10 minutes.
The key is finding an inexpensive replacement.

Most likely the screen. You can try using an external monitor, to
confirm.

It's only worth changing the screen if you can do the repair yourself.
And can find a parts notebook.

BTW: XP is painfully bad with 64mb ram.
