| Latitude CP- how to increase memory / virtual memory My Mom has an older Dell latitude CP, who supposedly has a memory maximum of 128. It is very slow at this processing speed. Is there a way to bypass the 128 maximum? Or a way to use a jump drive etc to increase virtual memory via disk mode? How would one go about doing that? Is there a program or can I just use the control panel and the system panel ? Thanks! Steve hartz SHartz40******.com |

It is very slow at this processing speed. Is there a way to bypass The CP has a maximum of 128MB RAM, as you indicate. This cannot be expanded. With a jump drive you can have additional storage space, but this is not RAM and will not make the system any faster. For "best" performance out of this machine (bear in mind it will never be stellar) go back to the original operating system, which I believe was Windows 98, and remove all unwanted software. |

| Re: Latitude CP- how to increase memory / virtual memory Isn't there a way to increase virtual memory by tricking the system into viewing Hard drive space as memory'? And a jump drive is certainly fast enough... You cannot put the swap file on a removable drive. (you can with Vista, but your laptop isn't even remotely capable of running Vista) |
