No Sound

Maybe you guys can help me. I thought I would post it here. Anyway a
friend recently gave me his old Gateway 7322GZ. It came with XP and I
installed Vista. Now I have no sound. I have tried many different XP and
Vista Conexant drivers to no avail. Any ideas would be greatly
appreciated.

I am using this one under Windows 7. I grabbed it from my Gateway
Windows XP recovery DVD. But I see the same one on their website. If you
try it, let me know if it works for you.

Driver Provider: Conexant
Driver Date: 5/23/2005
Driver Version: 6.14.10.565

Gateway Conexant Audio Driver Version: 6.14.10.0565
Conexant_Audio_6.14.10.0565.exe

The line below is a one line URL. Although it might be broken up in two.

Conexant Audio Driver Version: 6.14.10.0565

The other thing to look at is the mainboard drivers. AC97 and HD Audio
sound both consist of two parts - the Connexant or Realtek bit and its
drivers that link via a serial data stream to the mainboard chipset part
of the audio system. You need drivers for both parts.
