Dell latitude C840 - battery issue

Hi! My friend has an old Dell C840 whose battery died. She bought a
new (?) battery via Ebay and I put it in for her last night. The
laptop's indicator light has not stopped blinking for the past 8 hours
in this sequence: green, green, green, amber. Does anyone happen to
know what this indicates? I'm assuming of course that it means the
Ebay battery is DOA, but maybe I just installed it wrong??

Thanks very much!!

Go here and download the "Users Guide".
http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...0/en/index.htm

Then read the section about power problems. Battery problem.

Thanks very much. The particular sequence of flashing lights that's
occurring here is not specifically discussed in the User's Guide, but
it sure seems like she got a defective battery.... :-(
