toughbook cf-72 win98 reinstall of touchpad+touchscreen drivers

all

Got this 2nd hand panasonic toughbook which was built like a brick and
working in win98se, touchscreen, touchpad and all; however after I
installed some software and went through several standby's and power
crashes both stopped working, tried all the driver delete and
reinstall tricks to no avail (I'm win98 MS certified)... any
suggestions shy of reinstallation ? I have all the original drivers
and reference manual for it ...

Clue ? -
The strange thing is that the toughpad works in Safe mode, but not the
touchscreen; also I can instruct the system to use a mouse instead of
the touchpad, but I need the touchscreen also working for my 3 year
old's games

thx ahead

Hi,
You may want to try uninstalling any mouse drivers you have running -
they apparently cause a conflict with both the touchpad and the touch
screen. make sure you are using the latest drivers too (I would bet
you are, but I feel I have to point it out). also, there are a few
toughbook specific groups out there on yahoo and google - try there
too. BTW, I just got a CF28 and am learning this as i go.
good luck!
Paul

all versions of the available drivers already. Can you give me some
links to these forums ? I searched but find nothing ....

Re: toughbook cf-72 win98 reinstall of touchpad+touchscreen drivers

This was finally fixed by using SFC (type in RUN...) and extracting
vmouse.VXD from a Win98SE disc and put it back into the VMM directory
inside Windows. vmouse.VXD I read was a USB mouse driver, maybe it
was used in some way for the touchpad and touchscreen even though I
don't have one
