Our DELL Latitude D600 laptop has a "Caps Lock flashes 10 times"
problem that seems to be well-known (see links below) and apparently
is inherent in its design.

The described remedies help only temporarily: the computer can freeze
any time after the successful boot-up.

Is there a better way to fix the problem?

Wow, that is terrible Eugene! My two Toshiba 2595XDVD laptops ('99 era)
has a similar problem. It would suddenly lockup and for years I had to
hold down the power button and then reboot. Then one day I accidentally
tapped the Function key and it unlocked. I never had to power down ever
again. Just slightly annoying tapping the Function key to unlock the
computer about twice a day.

Many laptop has frezz problem not only latitude d600.

My IBM thinkpad laptop also has the problem, but the IBM publish some patch to fix it. You can get the info in Dell.com to fix it.

If there has no support, I suggest you reinstall the OS and format the hard disk, and update the bios.

I wonder if you had a chance to open the links I provided. This seems
to be a hardware problem unlikely to be solved by reinstalling OS and/
or flushing the BIOS.
