HP Laptop rebuild annomaly!

I have run recovery on a new HD after the old one died on a HP laptop, I
have replaced the 250Gb drive with a nice shiny new WB Scorpio Blue 500Gb
unit.

I am seeing on the bottom right of screen that it is saying it is an
evaluation copy of Vista version 6002, it should be the real thing of
course.

Is this just a glitch in the fabric of time that will sort itself out or am
I headed for a problem when MS decides I have a bad copy of Vista?

All updates are installing okay except some SQL update so it looks okay from
that side of the shop. My plan is to install WIn7 as soon as I can get a
real retail version but in the mean time this is it.

Any insights?

Cheers.

Pete

Correct, it refused to load SP2 without SP1 being done first.

Am I reading right that I have installed SP1 RC rather than the real thing?

Thanks

Pete

Found out some more info, it is actually SP2 coursing my problem, SP1 will
give eval copy 6001 and SP2 will give eval 6002 apparently.

Apparently all I have to to do is uninstall SP2 RC and reinstall the proper
SP2. Doing that now. Fingers crossed!!!

Cheers.

Well uninstalling SP2 got rid of the "eval copy 6002" banner, just waiting
for the proper SP2 to install, looking good so far.

I suspect that while the you gave me would work it was old info that is no
longer valid for SP1, because you could just uninstall and reinstall the new
pack, would have been valid when only the RC was available though.

Thanks for the assist mate, got me going in the right direction.

Cheers

Pete

No, just uninstall the release candidate service pack and install the proper
pack, about ten minutes each.

Cheers.
