Oh thanks! You wouldn't think that would work. But I guess it does, as I
don't see any empty shopping carts in the parking lot. PIA if you forget
to bring a quarter with ya. lol

You are correct PV.
ALDI's is a DEEP discount grocery, you bag you own stuff. They do on
occasion sell some odd items, like camping gear and PC's, or a super
water slide...

Wow, by that definition all groceries around here would be deep discount
ones :)

Is someone bagging your stuff for you an American thing? I mean, I've been
to quite many groceries in Finland and Sweden, some in Norway and few in
Spain, but so far haven't encountered one where someone would do the packing
for you.

In my area (Phoenix AZ) some grocery stores, like Safeway, bag the
groceries and put them in the cart. And on request they will also push
the cart to your car and unload the groceries for you. But what I like
best about Safeway is the free WiFi... ;) At the other end of the
spectrum are stores (Like Walmart) where if you wish you can
completely check yourself out: unload the cart, scan the price, reload
the cart and pay the machine with no human intervention...

I have not been to any other countries,so can not comment on them. In the
US the stores used to do lots of things for the people. Gas stations would
pump the gas, check the oil and tires, and wash the windshield. Many stores
had elevator operators to push the buttons to take you to the floor you
want. Most stores will still bag your items. Grocery stores used to take
your food to the car and load them in for you. That was the first job I had
, that and stock the shelves.

All most all of this is gone now. We even check out the items in some
stores and pay for them without help. Atleast most of the grocery stores
around here will bag your food.

OK, I think I got it now: that "you bag your own stuff" was more a figure of
speech based on past/about-to-be-past situation than literally telling that
currently only deep discount stores would lack the bagging service... Thanks
for explaining.

No, the deep discount stores will not bag your items. Audi is mostly a
grocery store and you have to actually put your groceries in a bag. I think
you have to bring your own bag or they charge you for that also.

There is a discount store I go to that mainly sales items in bulk. You can
not buy only one roll of paper towels ,but must buy the package of 12. Same
as for can goods, you have to buy boxes of 12. You can buy one of a higher
dollar item such as a computer, television, or one shirt. I think they
mainly sell smaller items the way they come packed and do not break it into
individual items. In a standard grocery store you can buy one small can of
beans. In this place you either buy a case of 12 small cans, or maybe one
can that is about enough beans to feed 10 or more people.
They do not bag the items, infact most of the items would not fit in a bag
as they are bulk packed.

ALDI and Save-A-Lot charge $.10 a bag but encourage you to bring in your
own or reuse the ones you bought previously.

They also encourage you to use the empty boxes that the stuff on the
shelves came out of.

Best Bang for your grocery store buck...

Re: usb tv tuner

Even if the coin doesn't get the original user to bring the cart in, it
encourages people to bring ** a ** cart in from the parking lot when
they come into the store (they get the reward for returning the cart
without having to pay for it), and there are some people who will
collect carts to collect multiple "rewards". But yes, the real purpose
is to keep carts from simply being left in the parking lot. An end that
I support (ever had your car's paint job damaged by an abandoned cart?)
even if this means of acheiving it seems silly.
