| For traveling: Notebook with monitor 9" or 10"?. Hi, I'd like to know your suggestion, please. I'd like to buy a small noteboook or an eeePC and I will use it only for traveling. I like a 9" monitor for its compactness but I am afraid it will give me more side effects than a 10" notebook (on the sight). What is your opnion, please? tahnks |

Will it fit the cramped plane furniture,? Does it not give you so much burden carrying it along with the rest of your luggage? A lot of people like the EEpc but , I find it too small and underpowered for my taste and less suited for multitasking and multimedia application. Roy |

Even full screen on an external monitor. Say how do you single computer users put up with the limited multitasking anyway? Back in the early days before the craze of multitasking OS, we used multiple computers. I still continue this practice even today. Some people like to have multiple OS on a single computer. That means you have to reboot to access the other one. Or run virtual machines which eats up processor time. I believe this is insane. Use multiple computers and this problem disappears. One of them needs to reboot after an install, backup, or whatever... no problem. You have multiple computers so it isn't an issue. And if one has a hardware failure, again no problem. You have spares. See how this works? -- Bill Windows 2000 SP4 Asus EEE PC 701G4 ~ 2GB RAM ~ 16GB-SDHC |

You actually use several computers simultaneously just to save rebooting time?? Aren't you the guy who posted about just using 20 watts for your computing? Guess not anymore... ;) |

The screen is totally NON GLARE and can be turned up very bright with its Samsung display. Runs for hours and Samsung has special software that comes on it for automatic upgrades to drivers/etc. and professional online troubleshooting if you have a problem. The inside plastic is FLAT black...never glares into your eyes. I HATE glossy screens....how awful in an outdoor computer. I've had many of them and this is my favorite. Take out one screw and remove the bottom door. Pop out the 1GB 200 pin memory stick and replace it with a 2GB that Microsoft forbade them to include as part of the deal to put WinXP, not Vistacrap, on it. I paid $20 for 2GB from buy.com. It's very easy to change. Unlike the cheap EEE pcs, the Samsung has a bigger, easier typing keyboard but a smaller touchtablet. But, the touchtablet is MULTITOUCH very similar to iPhone and has a real scroll bar and nice feedback button bar. Start scrolling on the scroll bar, keep your finger on it and scroll right into the main tablet in a circle to scroll the whole screen, no matter how long it is! Spread fingers to magnify, Squeeze to zoom back out...on any browser. Under $400 on the net from several places... The speakers in the NC10 are just AWFUL! Bluetooth headphones or wired phones are best....or powered external speakers if you want to play to a group. Don't plan on listening to the horrible speakers in it. Yecch...it's only real fault. 160GB is standard, as is the 6-cell extended battery pack, now...not optional for more money. -- ----- Larry If a man goes way out into the woods all alone and says something, is it still wrong, even though no woman hears him? |

So if I am just running two of them, I'm only running 20 watts of power. Right now I am at the lake, with just one EeePC. :P -- Bill Asus EEE PC 702G8 ~ 2GB RAM ~ 16GB-SDHC |

| Re: For traveling: Notebook with monitor 9" or 10"?. Side effects? No; it has the same resolution. It will just be smaller. But not much (1" diagonal) AroundTheWorld wrote: > Hi, I'd like to know your suggestion, please. > I'd like to buy a small noteboook or an eeePC and I will use it only > for traveling. You're not going to carry >> it in a pocket! It weighs only 2.6# >> >> > I think someone touched a nerve... > No, it's just the absurdity of it. Thin = WEAK....bends and breaks easily. Thin computers must leave out JACKS to plug things into like memory sticks, disk drives, the touchscreen interface board that turned my NC10 into a touch tablet...(c;] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2LVyjH0dEU Got mine from Taiwan fast: http://www.fidohub.com/buy3.php?no=89 No soldering at all, but installation isn't for people in a hurry. The plug the screen plugs into will NOT feed through the right screen hinge which requires disassembly and laying in the wires with TWO wifi coax cables....not fun. Be VERY picky about sticking the touchscreen down to the LCD screen. There is no fudge factor room for error. If anything, stick it down a little low so you can click the tray buttons. A 25- point precision screen calibration makes it perfect! Works great with both WinXPSP3 and Ubuntu Linux...plug n play! $US96 and cheap shipping.... -- ----- Larry If a man goes way out into the woods all alone and says something, is it still wrong, even though no woman hears him? |

I have a Eeepc 702 and the 7 inch screen is too small. I am getting too old to read small stuff anymore (age 73). I just bought a Eeepc 1000he, I love the 10 inch screen. Clay |
