problem with external mouse

Hi
my little daughter managed to get the ext mouse stuck while painting on
my VAIO VGN FW 285D,however the touchpad works fine. The ext mouse isn't
listed in the Device Manager.I did some restoring to earlier dates but
it keeps saying that one of the usb Root Hubs is unknown.I tried a cool
disc on the same usb which fortunately functions. The mouse works fine on
my pc.I just can't feel like going back all the way formatting and
reinstalling using the recovery backup dvds.
Any help id greatly appreciated.

Hi mohsen,

When you are in device manager, right click all usb hub's listed and
say to disconnect. Reboot the machine, with the mouse unplugged. After
windows is booted up, plug the mouse in and it will find the hardware
again.

thanx kristina

but it didnt work and I'm now recovering it for the 2nd time in one
month as I noticed the webcam doesn't function either. This vista 64bit
is making me sick .I'm not a pc pro and was wondering what would happen
if I installed a vista 32 (a clean-instal). I understand I'll have
driver issues then some parts of the laptop will stop functioning?Lots
of stuff has been installed by vaio factory setting and how can I bring
them back onto the 32? could u possibly help in simple language?

I have had great luck with Logitech's one driver does all. It is for all
of their mice, but it works for everything else I ever tried too. It
might be worth a shot. When you go through the prompts, I don't think it
matters much which mouse you tell it you have. As it all leads to the
same driver I think.

For our current corporate support project we use the same Logitech
Software for ALL wireless mice and keyboards. Does a nice job.
