| laptop RECENTLY I BOUGHT A NEW M1530 LAPTOP FROM DELL, IT CAME WITH A NOISE FROM THE BOTTOM. I CALLED DELL, THEY TROUBLESHOOTING IT THEM DECIDED IT THE HARD DRIVE BECAUSE THEY HAD THE SAME PROBLEM IN THE PAST. SENT ME AN UPGRADE HARD DRIVE WHICH IS NO BETTER. I SENT THE LAP TO DELL FOR REPAIR, CAME BACK TO ME WITH SAME PROBLEM. CALLED DELL AND ASKED THEM FOR AN EXCHANGE BECAUSE THIS IS A NEW LAP. THE REFUSED BECAUSE IT IS OVER 21 DAYS. THEY SAID THEY WILL CHANGE THE BELT TO FIX THE HEATING PROBLEM AND THE HARD DRIVE AGAIN BUT NO EXCHANGE. I DON'T THINK ITS FAIR TO BE STUCKED WITH A DEFECTED MACHINE WHEN THIS IS NOT MY FAULT. THIS A $1200.00 LAP WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO BE BRAND NEW. I AM VERY UPSET AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. PLEASE HELP ME. THANKS NOEMY |

| Re: laptop ??? Belt ???? This are no "belts" in a laptop. It's possible that the noise that you are hearing is normal. Most laptops have at least a hard drive and a fan that run and make some noise. Some laptops have multiple fans. But perhaps you could have suggested to the OP, in a nice way, that it is customary in Usenet to use upper/lower case and to reserve upper case-only text to simulate shouting. Just a thought. |

I'm a long-time computer fella, recent laptop convert and despite my Grammar School education, was never good on a keyboard. When I went to school only females [with poor educational prospects] were taught typing. Ironically my form room for on of my years at school was the typing room. I am in awe of my younger friends who touch-type. Just a thought. I've been on usenet for over 12 years and very polite for a large part of that time.
