| Re: Kinds of laptops You need to narrow the question ... a lot. It's like asking "what kind of transportation vehicle should I get" (which could range from bicycle to starship). Also, your choice of XP or Vista is pretty much gone. As of 6/30 (and in fact, for most purposes, as of a date that has already passed) all new laptops will come with Vista and XP won't be directly available (there is a awkward, complex and difficult way around that for some laptops that have Vista Business or Vista Ultimate). babygirl wrote: > Hi all, > > I have a question. I don't even care if the warp drive works or not. :-) Speaking about what kind of laptops... I just ordered one of those little Asus EEE PCs. I am hoping it will replace my 9 year old Palm IIIc. It should, the CPU is like 40 times faster than my Palm's Dragonball EZ 20MHZ CPU. You could also get a Mac Or a Linux Seriously, it depends on what you want to do: Play games (you would need one with a good video card and high speed - which adds to the price and battery drain. Not necessary if you are not interested in games). Carry it around with you - you would want something not too heavy. But even that is a matter of opinion. Fed up with carrying a 2.7 kg Toshiba around with me all day, I bought an eee-PC. It's fine for checking emails and basic surfing. But its keyboard is too small for doing real work, especially if you touch type. As someone suggested, an excellent replacement for a Blackberry - unless you only have a small handbag. Not to mention, price Etc etc. There are so many variables! Perhaps that's why there are so many different laptops. |

Actually I do have connectivity with the Palm IIIc through a Kyocera QCP3035 (cell phone). Both fits into a wallet made by Kyocera. You can't receive phone calls though while the Palm is using it. The Palm automatically communicates with the Kyocera through a short cable, so the phone only needs to be on and that is all. -- Bill Gateway Celeron M 370 (1.5GHZ) MX6124 (laptop) w/1GB Windows XP Home SP2 (60GB HD) Intel(r) 910GML (64MB shared) |
