| Need help with an HP laptop hi, i have problem with my lap, its a HP Pavilion Media Center dv5163cl notebook pc, the lap makes a lot of noise in the fan and its real loud sometimes, i was wondering if anyone can tell what are the steps to open my lap and fix the fan or do something to it so it would stop making noise tnks Firedevil57 |

"Real" does not mean "very". Sorry, it's a pet grammar peeve of mine. (-: I too, own a Pavilion and have had the same problem. Sometimes, the fan runs properly; other times not. Last week, I took it to my local laptop repair centre and they replaced the fan. I imagine the bearings were going. Given the heat generated within laptop computers, I suggest that you also have the fan replaced. As for opening it up yourself, sorry I cannot help you there. I shy away from working internally on laptops. I'd suggest that you ask your local repair centre for a guesstimate on fan replacement, or at least request the cost of a fan if you decide to do the work yourself. They should be able to give you a verbal ballpark figure without charging a diagnostic fee. From there you can decide if you want to enter it for service or tackle it yourself. I have not used my laptop since it was repaired but will be on the road on Thursday. I'll see then if it runs any cooler with the new fan. Best of luck with your Pavilion!
