| My laptop wont switch on Okay, I need some help and advice here. A couple of days ago, my laptop fell off the table and when I tried to turn it on, it wouldnt work at all. When I plug in the AC charger, the light shows up so its definitely not the battery. I think the issue is with the motherboard. I've taken apart my laptop but couldn't find anything unusual.. Oh its a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro. PS: If you require more information, just let me know. Thanks The help is truly appreciated :) |

| Re: My laptop wont switch on a guess would be the hard drive or the video. It could even have cracked the board. | Re: My laptop wont switch on Zircin.. Welcome to the expense of laptop computers! Obviously, not something that you want bouncing off the floor. While I understand it was an accident, it's not something it does on its own, it had a little help to make it from the table to the floor. The *real* next step is to call Fujitsu (they're good people) and describe the symptoms. They'll issue an RMA, carefully box it up and ship it in for diagnosis/repair. Since they've likely got all the components at their fingertips, it's easy for them to turn it around. Otherwise, it appears that it's a guessing game for you. Put another way, how important is it really to have your laptop working? If it is, you now know what you've got to do... Cheers, Mr. Mentor "zircin" <zircin.39c6dm@no.email.invalid> wrote in message news:zircin.39c6dm@no.email.invalid... | | Okay, I need some help and advice here. Did you try just on battery power alone? Also try powering it up on AC and the battery removed. When it turns on for a second, do you hear any beeps? -- Bill |

| Re: My laptop wont switch on When the battery is in, and I try to turn it on, i get no response. However, when I plug in the AC and the battery, it will turn on for a second then shut down. It will charge though. I think there is something wrong withe motherboard? Keep the advice coming. Its truly appreciated thanks :) |

As if the battery is shot, this all makes sense. Yes 99.9% of most laptops can run without a battery. -- Bill |

I think there is some fault with the motherboard, although ive taken everything apart and can't see anything broken or fault on it. Let me know if there is anything else I can try. Again, the help is truly appreciated guys :) -zircin |
