Toshiba Laptop battery problem

Hello,
I seem to have a problem with my Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 and it's
battery. I've searched for forums and no one seems to have exactly the
same problem I do.

Basically, my battery seems to run out after about 3 minutes. Even for
Toshiba this seems like a short battery life!
It takes about 1-2 hours to charge and the amber light comes on as
it's doing so and the % increases slowly. I then unplug it and the %
slowly decreased to around 97% before I get the laptop switching
itself off (no warning or shut down). When I turn it on, Windows boots
up again and the battery power is back to 0%.
I thought it was the battery that was the problem, but I've since
bought a new one and the same thing happens.

Any one seen this? If so, did you manage to fix the problem?
Thanks in advance
Tony

Sounds like a motherboard issue, if the system cannot properly detect
the battery charge the system may just be stopping thinking the battery
is dead. If it is a new battery, then you know it is internal. I think
you may be looking at a system killer.

Real new
Toshiba battery or something off of e*** that is a generic? If the
latter, then you haven't proven anything.

Re: Toshiba Laptop battery problem

I've experienced this on some Toshiba laptops before. I think I agree
with Cyclops, its a motherboard issue. Have you tried taking it back
to the manufacturer?

I agree with everybody; Cyclops, Chris, Barry, and Gary. And it wouldn't
be the first time that a new battery was purchased that was bad. And it
could be a problem with the internal charging system of the laptop. Nor
would I rule out problems with the AC adapter either, but not as likely.
What happens when you charge the batteries with the laptop powered down?
Does it act the same?
