Laptop with DVI , or docking station. need help.

Hi
I am thinking to buy a Laptop, but I saw that there is no models with
DVI.
since I want to use my laptop as a primery computer in the house, and
connect it to normal LCD this matter is very crucial to me.

so :
1) is there any laptop model with DVI output ?
2( I understnad that most of the laptops have a docking station that
contain DVi
but how the docking station get the DVI ? is it just an extension from
the regular VGA port to the DVi or it somehow connect to the graphic
card in the laptop and transmit a true DVi.

Consider a MacBook Pro. They have built-in DVI, in fact it's dual DVI
so you can drive a 1600x2550 screen. Supposedly they run Windows just
fine with boot camp. Admittedly, I thought it was too risky to bank on
that so I got a Dell.

In that case it'll be a docking station, and even then a max res of
1600x1200 or a little better. Sadly this spec has been stagnant for 4
years or so. The DVI signal comes through the big connector in the
bottom of your laptop, so yes you get the pure digital signal from the
docking station DVI port.

gentechpc.com.http://1toppc.com/Merchant2/
This also is available with faster hard drive, extra memory, and an extra

Never seen one.

Not most, but some.

The latter. The graphics chip puts out DVI, but no room for it on the
laptop apparently. Some notebooks now have HDMI outputs built in.

There are some other devices that plug into the CardBus or ExpressCard
slot and are essentially another whole graphics card, that has DVI.
Belkin makes these.

I have a Dell dock for a D610 and D620, and it has DVI out. It was very
inexpensive too, only $7.50.

Asus F3Sv series and Dell 17" laptops have DVI.
The Asus laptops are 15.4 inch screens.

There seem to be mass quantities of the Dell PRO1X on the market. Often
they are new, sometimes they are companies selling off their inventory,
and they are used, but still fine.

The port replicator for Dell notebooks has the following part numbers:

D/APR, Model PR01X, 2U442, P8129, 1W341, 1W342, 2T219, GH074, 310-7704

It's all the same item.

See
"http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&sku=310-7704"

It fits:

Latitude D400 / D410 / D420 / D500 / D505 / D510 / D520 / D531 / D600 /
D610 / D620 / D630 / D800 / D810 / D820 / D830

Precision Workstation M20 / M60 / M65 / M70 / M90 / M4300

Inspiron 8500 / 8600 / 500m / 510m / 520 / M1710

Look on craigslist and eBay. I found a guy at the Electronics Flea
Market near me that had mass quantities for sale. I bought two for $15
(the normal price was $8, so it wasn't a lot of bargaining). You have to
use the 90W power supply, not the 65 watt supply, but that's what I had
already on two Dell Notebooks.

There is also the Dell Expansion station, which has the same capability,
plus a half-high PCI slot, and a media bay.
