thanks for all the help....i copied the disk and i have booted from
it ....now i have a page with a penguin on ...and lists of errors in
white......third of the way down in blue it says ....creating unified
filesystem and systemlinks on ram disk....then more errors....then in
red it says .....error cannot unite read only media and initial
ramdisk....system halted....then in green it says cd successfully
merged with read write ram disk...then another list of errors.......i
really want to get the pics off the drive.....can i mount in in an
external housing and go into the harddrive with my other laptpop and
get the pics off..........i worried that trying to get the os working
again might wipe all the pics off the drive........why do you think
this is happening do you think i downloaded a virus or something....

do you mean i should take the hard drive out ...put it in a
case ....then use usb to connect to my other laptop and get all my
files off.....then i can put it back in and reinstall the os.....will

It should...I said...should work. It's certainly worth a try. If you try to
recover the O/S you may lose everything. Don't write anything to the HD
before you try it exterally on your other laptop or you may overwrite the
files you want and lose them that way

recover the O/S you may lose everything. Don't write anything to the HD
before you try it exterally on your other laptop or you may overwrite the
