| Replacing hard drive on old Sony Vaio I have an older Sony VaioPCG-F430 that is being used for surfing the internet, email and some word processing. The hard drive has become useless and I am going to replace it. The original hard drive has an RPM of 4200 and a disk capacity of 6 gigs. Can I get a faster hard drive and will it make a difference or is the motherboard limited to handle 4200? Will it still work, even if it can't improve the performance? Are there limitations to the capacity? The original hard drive is a Hitachi DK23AA-60. Thanks, Tim |

For what it's worth, I had a 5400 rpm, 40 gig drive in my old F430. I don't recall off hand what brand it was. Had no trouble with the installation. | Re: Replacing hard drive on old Sony Vaio You can reaplace it with a faster drive and, within limits, a larger drive. tim@nocomment.com wrote: > I have an older Sony VaioPCG-F430 that is being used for surfing the > internet, email and some word processing. > > The hard drive has become useless and I am going to replace it. > The original hard drive has an RPM of 4200 and a disk capacity of 6 > gigs. > > Can I get a faster hard drive and will it make a difference or is the > motherboard limited to handle 4200?
