| Dell Inspiron 6000 display issues I have a 1.5 year old Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop. I am running into a display issue and I am not sure how to trouble shoot the same. This is happenning after the lap top was roughed up a bit by the little one :)The video appears to be squished and the aspect ratio appears to have gone weird. The display is squished to the right side and there is black unlit screen on 1/2 of the monitor. This is at startup (the console which appears at POST check) ie in the Standard VGA mode (no windows video driver setting) As a last ditch effort I tinkered with changing display settings/ graphic properties after windows loaded up and reset BIOS to factory setting. This did not help . Any ideas / pointers /suggestions ? Thanks Manoj |

| Re: Dell Inspiron 6000 display issues Sounds like one of the LCD grid boads went bad. If this problem does not occur on an external monitor, it is probably a bad LCD. If you need a replacement, just send me your service tag and I will find the correct one for you. | Re: Dell Inspiron 6000 display issues To see if LCD ( probably) or system board/ connector, connect the VGA connector to a desktop monitor and turn on laptop. Enable external monitor by pressing the Fn key AND F8 together. If external monitor ok, then it's an LCD problem.(good stuff sent from system board just not showing properly on dislpay.) If both bad, then system board issue. For owners manual - key functions, see pg 40: http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...m/D5181bk5.pdf and for service info: http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...n/sm/index.htm <manojas********.com> wrote in message news:1183918950.610698.66180@o11g2000prd.googlegro ups.com... >I have a 1.5 year old Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop. There is a known issue with insp 6000 & 6400 that the screen goes bad after a period of 1 to 1.5 yrs. If you are in US call 180062499896 and ask for the supervisor after some time if the guy is not ready to replace stuff. Regards |
