Sony downloads will not work, saying This driver is not intended for your model. I had hopes when I installed the the HD driver from Realtek, but it was saying I was missing the file called sthda.sys. Cannot get it to work. Any help would be appreciated. Charles |

Any help would be appreciated. > Charles Does your sound work, other than the HD audio playback, for instance when viewing Flash, Quicktime, or other embedded audio on web-pages or listening to CD or MP3 files on your computer? If so, you should try loading an HD playback software program, for instance download a trial version of CyberLink PowerDVD Ultra, install it, and see if you can use the codec it installs. If your computer was rated for HD playback under Vista then the hardware should handle it under XP too, and maybe even better given the usually better drivers. If you have no sound at all, try running a program such as SandraSoft to identify the audio chipset used, and then search for that chipset's XP drivers. |
