| Any ideas why mousepad/kbd "lock" on Acer laptop at startup? Gentlemen; I have one year old Acer Aspire notebook that's been running well but recently it is experiencing a weird problem. When booting the touch pad mouse seems to work fine and when the user selection screen is displayed the mount pointer can be moved to the desired user and the Enter key on the keyboard pressed. This brings up the password prompt. Now, while entering the password, all of a sudden the keyboard stops responding and so does the mouse. The only way that I can regain control is to hold the power button down a while until the system shuts off. My guess is that there is a conflict of drivers somewhere in the boot process and it occurs just about at the time I am trying to logon. Has anyone experienced this before? Anyone have any ideas what I might be able to do to circumvent and repair this strange situation? Any/all recommendations appreciated. Thanks, |

I've experienced something like this, but nowhere near as bad, on my Acer Aspire 5100. The laptop keyboard frequently "locks up" for a second or two when entering passwords on web sites and once or twice I've seen it do this while in Word or writing an email. Like you, I'm not sure why this occurs either. Now when entering passwords I have to wait between letters and watch to make sure I have a cursor icon on the screen before pressing the next key. I have had tons of problems with this laptop and it back to the Acer shop twice. I've just chalked it up to possibly a driver issue and Acer's poor quality in general. |
