OneNote Activation

Question, I have a Toshiba M200 and it was preinstalled with OneNote. Also, it came with a card that had my product key on it. However, I was wondering if any of you had problems re-activating OneNote if you reinstalled it after a reformat too many times.

I am asking this because I could not reinstall office 2003 after my reformat because I activated it too many times. However, I was able to install OneNote with no problems because it was only the second time I activated it.

I'm too afraid to reformat my computer anymore because so much software nowadays requires activation and I think they all have limits on the amount of times you can reinstall the software.

Thanks.

I have not tried this but you may want to backup these files. If the hardware has not changed then you should be able to do a restore of the files and be fine.

Code:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\OFFICE\DATA\opa11.dat

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Data\OPA11.BAK

If you ever need to reactivate Office software and it won't let you because something has changed or it's been activated too many times you are given a dialog box with an 800 number in it. Calling that number (from within the US) is free and in just a minute you speak with a real person. Once you explain what you are trying to do they give you a new code to enter that activates it. I've had to do this several times since I rebuild so many computers and they've never given me trouble.

Yeah, I tried that twice on the same computer. The first time I called them they had no problem giving me an activation code. I typed it in and it worked fine for a few days. Then a few days later the activation code popped up again on the same computer without me changing anything on the system...

I called them up again and then they told me my cd key was invalid. I asked them what they meant by invalid because it worked fine before. They responded by saying invalid = broken....

No reason, just an arbitrary response. They told me to return it to the reseller. However that would be impossible as I bought it OEM about 3 months ago...

So, now I'm stuck with a 200 dollar frisbee.

Was this on the same computer? Or perhaps on a computer with a hardware change? OEM versions of the s/w can't be installed on any other hardware due to the terms of the license.

I don't recall that part under the terms of the license. The part I read said includes installation for two computers: one desktop and one laptop. The microsoft representative who allowed me to activate it the first time verified that.

Also, when I was purchasing it, I believe the seller described it as allowing the installation on up to three computers.

I'm not sure who to believe, but the fact is it required me to activate twice on the same computer without any hardware changes if that's what you are asking.

Thanks.
