Good evening and welcome aboard !

The choices are between convertibles and slates. Your boss may want to look at the Toshiba M200 or Acer C300. These are both convertibles, allowing your boss to use the Tablet PC in notebook mode and then as inking is learned -- then placed into slate mode -- for meetings, etc.

Make sure you check out OneNote and TabletPlanner. These are great additional software for the executve.

There is a also the software repository that you should check out.

Good luck and let us know how we may help.

Windows XP Tablet PC Edition

Welcome to the site. Let us know if you have any questions about Layne's suggestions.

I agree that your boss should use the convertibles because he's probably used to a notebook. Remember that Tablet PCs using Windows XP Tablet PC Edition is Windows XP Pro with additional features. Therfore you can run all of the software you'd run on a notebook plus more.

Oh I forgot.

XP SP2 is going to be available at the end of the summer. This will have Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 with the new Tablet Input Panel (TIP). You can get the release candidate 1 (RC1) for a free download right now. RC2 should be available in a few weeks. This has increased security. The final SP2 will also be free.

I agree that the Toshiba Portege M200/205 is a good notebook with Tablet PC features and appropriate for your CEO. Another system to consider, if you want a system that weighs less is the HP TC1100. It offers the advantage of the slate, nice clear display, sleek design, and has an ultra-portable design.
