| Good Morning I just Ordered my Toshiba M200 yesterday. I'm hoping to have early next week. Feels like Christmas! I'm a Network/Sys Admin - Director of IT and my plan is to use this to help document my work. I'm constantly printing out paper (killing trees) writing notes on the documents filing them and then throwing them away later as the files build up. My 1st goal is to quit wasting paper and using electronic storage of the documents with my annotations and it might be nice for games, etc... DVD storage is cheap and consumes little space. After my yearly 'review' my bosses decided this was a good investment to make ;). Personally whenever I get 'reviewed' I always ask for something for me, last it year it was a 2 month vacation!!!, it lets you know how they really feel about your work. And it stresses them a bit to not know what you'll ask for each year. Two years ago it was 2 more weeks of paid vacation a year. It's fun and the worst they'll say is no and for them it's cheaper than a bigger raise. I wandered up there. I'm looking forward to this forum and hope to have my tablet dual booting Linux/XP in week or so after I get it. I see that the Toshiba can now boot from the SD card with the new 1.3 bios upgrade. I might even do VMWare to have multiple systems to experiment with. I want to thank everyone in advance for there input on the forums. I hope to contribute also. BIll |

| Good morning Linuxmon Welcome to Tablet PC Questions Linuxmon (Love the name!). Your post made my morning. My sister was just admonishing me and teasing me that this site is running on Linux. We are going to be moving this site from a Linux server to Windows based one next month but still ... it's fun to think of it being on Linux. Please let us know about your dual boot setup - the pros and cons. Which Linux distribution were you thinking of using? commercial or volunteer based? .rpm or .deb based? maybe gentoo? You might check out Ark Linux because they have a great community of volunteers and a very active IIRC channel. Love to know how it works out for you. Oh - and my brother was just given a Toshiba M205, too. I'm jealous.

| Thanks. I'm hoping to try one of the Knoppix variants on it. Specifically Mepis Linux. It's written by Warren in West Virginia. I'm using it on my current laptop and two desktops at the house. Sorry to hear your moving from Linux to Windows. Any particular reason? BIll |

| Mepis Sure - I know Mepis. Mepis has a good hard disk setup routine. I enjoyed playing with it a few months back. You might try booting a Knoppix CD and see how it does on the Tablet too. Linux is a good OS for many things but my classroom and high school is very Windows centric. It's just easier to get work done and shared on a Windows box. But no - I'm not moving away from Linux but rather integrating it into a mixed environment. After all, some of my students enjoy Linux while others prefer to not venture out of their little circle of MS products.

Out of curiosity, what resolution are you going to run the OS desktop? Highest or 1024?
