| Tablet Adoption Great forum. I'm a strategy consultant out of Toronto. A client of mine produces a solid tablet application for the construction industry. Along with finding ways to speed up penetration of the existing product, I'm also interested in how their expertise might be applied to other tablet applications. One of the things I'm trying to sort is how penetration of the tablet as a platform will help/hurt their success. I'm interested in gathering perspective on what's slowing adoption of tablet technology and what's required to overcome it. One theory I just heard - while tablets are frequently positioned as a step forward from pen and paper - they're actually a step backwards for the majority who have had to adapt to a keyboard. Interesting? Other thoughts? Thanks in advance. Jim |

| Welcome aboard. The Tablet PC market has steadily been increasing in the enterprise and in schools. Many schools now require students to purchase a Tablet PC. There are also many applications; however, these apps are being released in the enterprise arena. The pen is an alternative input device and definitely a plus. Yet, some people find using the pen all of the time is difficult at first and faster as they work with it. My sister holds the pen while she types and taps extremely fast. I am always jealous of her speed. Yet, I find `Yahoo mail is very fast because the check marks are made easier with a pen than a mouse click. Taking notes during a meeting is less intrusive with a Tablet PC than with a notebook. Finally, the InkGestures program for editing a MS-Word document far exceeds any other means of editing. Now, many members of the press did not (still do not) understand the purpose of the pen and misinterpret the use of the pen. The cost of the digitizer and using Windows XP Pro (with additional features) means the systems cost more. Yet, they fail to understand the purchaser gets more for their money with a Tablet PC.
