Warm Respects

I got to know this wonderful site from a friend from another forum. My problem has to do with my Toshiba Portege 3505. The OS was inadvertently reformatted by a friend. Unfortunately, the machine, which was a refurbished one didn't come with the OS Disc. Please, how could I restore my tablet to its original state. Sadly we dont have expert technical persons in my region that could be helpful. Hope my search ends here!

Thanks

Hello,

Sorry to read about your situation. Since you do not have access to the recovery CD, you are in a huge problem. Did you purchase the Toshiba used or are you the original owner? If you are the original owner then contact Toshiba and ask them to send a recovery CD. If not the original owner, then contact the former owner and ask them for the CD.

Please let us know.

Hi,

I really have a problem then, cause I cant reach either of the persons you mentioned. In fact my friend had already installed a WIN XP PROF over the tablet edition OS. From your reply I shiver, I may not have a solution.

IF you are looking to recover data after a reformatting... your odds are very slim and it's unlikely to be recoverable.

As for actually getting a working system back together, it shouldn't be too much of an issue. You need to obtain an OS disc somehow, either by contacting Toshibas tech support and explaining your situation, forking over some cash at your local software store for a brand new disc, or by obtaining the OS through illicit means. (recommended in that order) You should be able to reinstall the OS through normal, step-by-step means.
