| All round Tablet Hi ya all, Well another newbie to PC tablets, Im probaberly asking a question thats asked hundards of times before just cant find the answer yet. I am after getting a PC tablet but do not have a clue whats worth getting, its got to do several things; *Drawing - photoshop *web site design - dreamweaver *programming - visual studio *network - Wireless connection. (must) *an optical drive - dvd player and burner (ideal) It has to have an optical drive and the ability to draw line thickness with the amount of pressure you put on the screen. (if that makes any sence, im wanting it so that if you draw a line and push down it goes thicker and lighter it goes thinner). From what ive managed to find out so far the Acer TravelMates seem to meet those requirements, good storage / speed / dvd burner / long battery life / decent size screen / wireless. Only problem is Im not sure if it does the pressure pen option Im wanting, there is the 'EMR Stylus Pen' provided but does that support pressure? In all honesty it isnt the end of the world if it doesnt have it but I would prefer it did, failing that is there another tablet that you think its worth looking at? I realise that a laptop might be better spec wise and probably cheaper but Im really taken with the fact you can draw on the screen like a graphics tablet and flip the screen over and still be slim line. Any and all help will be greatly appricated. Thank you in advance, Shane Last edited by shane_blackwell; 06-01-2005 at 05:10 AM.. |

Other people tend to respond to questions about their particular hardware and not general questions. In addition, many of us have our own bias toward a product - and want to justify our purchases. It's a typical catch 22. The Acer C300 and the new C310 would do what you state you desire. You might consider finding a Tablet PC Users Group in your local area, get ahold of the different Tablet PCs and play with them. I prefer the pen action of the Averatec C3500 rather than the C102. However, I do not draw - and so you would want to look for the Wacom digitizer based units (Acer, Toshiba, etc). Good luck and let us know.
