What type of system do you own? What is your favorite way of using your system? Do you own an Apple iPod or a Zune? What is your favorite software?
I am completely NOT tech-savvy but am working to improve that. I am preparing to enter law school in the Fall of 2005 and will be purchasing a Tablet PC in the coming months. So. . .I am here for advice.
I want a Tablet PC for the obvious reasons: versatility, portability, One-Note (note taking and auto recording of lectures). I am specifically interested in true slate units with attachable keyboards and docking stations. I estimate that I will be taking notes/records lectures about 3-4 hours a day (slate mode), typing in notebook mode for 3-4 hours a day and working at the docking station (desktop mode) 3-4 hours a day.
While I am willing to pay a premium for a quality system, that system must 1) be reliable, 2) hold up to constant use and 3)last at least the 3 years of law school, 4) user friendly. I can not drop $3000 every year.
First, am I asking too much from this emerging technology?
Second, the system that I find most appealing at this point is Motion's M1400. However, my limited research indicates that there are problems with the pen application after 9-12 months and service issues in attempting to get the system repaired if problems do occur.
I am open to any input or advice regarding the M1400 in particular and Tablet PC systems in general. I would especial like to hear from anyone who has used a system heavily for an extended period of time.
I really appreciate any imput you can give me and look forward to hearing from you. ~GeorgieGirl
