| Hi! New owner, old tablet I'm idiosynchronic - idio for short. I bought via eBay 2 months ago a used NEC Versa LitePad. (And it was definately used, I was able to dig all sorts of interesting information about the previous owner because no one had scrubbed the hard disk . . ) I liked the form factor with the unattached keyboard, and the price was right considering the cost of a new Tablet, and the models are plentiful on eBay. Since aquiring, I've replaced the memory with the 512MB maximum SODIMM, and have been tinkering with improving the responsiveness of a machine equipped with what's now considered a older, slower processor. I bought the tablet as an experiment to see what I did with a tablet and what presented itself to me in working with a tablet. Am I going to become a bigger websurfer and AVI movie watcher, or am I going to find myself composing sketches and editing digital media? The one thing I've found is that I want alot of places to set the tablet - more than the one (very flimsy) stand that was packaged with the computer - because the LCD screen doesn't quite have a large enough view angle. So I made a bunch of stands. The stands preclude the use of the stylus, but the screen's visibile angle makes the use as a handheld PC a bit tricky. I'm a desktop support specialist for a law firm in Des Moines, Iowa, and have pretty extensive experience in deploying and supporting Windows in the corporate setting. I also have an art degree and practice digital photography and film as a hobby. At the end of 2005, we'll be doing our next round of workstation replacements, and a Tablet PC alternative for our attorneys is being considered. I really like Fujitsu's new units . . |

| Hi ! Welcome to the forums and thank you for sharing your background. It reads like you have been having a great time with the NEC. I agree that fujitsu Tablet PCs look good. What type of software do you have loaded on the unit? Are you aware of www.tabletpcpost.com ?
