Intro & Request...

Hello all...

Quick Intro: I'm a recently medically retired police Sergeant (due to an on-duty heart attack) after nearly 30 years on the job. I was just released to go back to work and will be starting a small private investigations firm thank$ to vocational rehab.

Appears from all I've read and evaluated, I'll be purchasing the Toshiba M200 TPC within the next week for my mobile (and perhaps main) tasks. Anyone have any input as to software to assist in the business (I've already purchased MS Office, Quickbooks and have settled on Case-Works for my PI case management tasks).

Thanks...

- Rich

One more thing...

Does anyone have any opinions on the Advueu V800XPT?
(see http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...&sku=A644-2000).

This looks it might be nice as an ultra-small TPC...

Sorry to read about the heart attack but glad you are safe and healthy and have joined the website.

I have a friend who is a lawyer. All of his billing was done in notepad. When he was in front of a client, he simply added the date and then the notes. These were then saved in a directory structure ... using an analogy of a file cabinet.

Having said that .. .. you may want to look at FranklinCovey's PlanPlus for Windows XP so that you can keep notes using an electronic binder analogy.

Also, OneNote 2003 is included and you may use it with the Microsoft PowerToys to clip items from the internet.

Finally, don't forget to check out Tablet PC Post.

This is an elitegroup and can also be found on Home Shopping Network. There is nothing wrong with it, except that the unit is under powered, the resolution is low. and WiFi is only 802.11b relative to the Toshiba.

It is really a matter of what you are willing to pay to get ...

Advueu A644-2000-

I am actually purchasing this right now as we speak from TigerDirect.ca (i moved to Canada). I will be keeping the site and its readers up to date about its pros and cons. So far i am sold as to its tiny size and minuscule price.
Sincerely
Ur Attorney

There are several companies (like ActiveInk) that focus on forms for police officers, but now that you're a PI most probably won't apply. They're more report oriented (traffic accident at the corner of X & Y).

Layne is right that PlanPlus for Windows XP might help you with most of what you need. It certainly will help you keep track of where you are supposed to be & when, along with notes. You can handwrite those notes and save them all together.

Hi Ur Attorney,

Interested in the V800XPT due to its small size....

Could you provide some feedback on it???

Would be greatly appreciated!
