Hallo everyone! I am trying to figure out which one of the two I will end up buying. :detective I have been reading tru the postings and I have sorted out the one note/tablet planner quest but now I am pulling my hair trying to decide between the two I looked the Acer up and I cannot find a site that will sell the 303 yet, do you know where I could find it over the land or the net? FYI I live in Atanta, GA. Thank you for putting this site together, it's great! elliebug PS I have read in many of the threads that the resolution of the acer is worse than the one of the Toshiba: I do not do gaming and I would probably end up watching Baby Einstain or Elmo if stuck on an airport. Would I notince any difference between the two? thanks elliebug Last edited by elliethebug; 06-08-2004 at 12:54 AM..

| Hi Ellie Hi Ellie, Welcome to the site and I love the nickname. Tablet PCs are perfect for children. The pen is so natural that many just use it naturally. Make sure - though - that you get a pen with the eraser on one end. My neice naturally flipped the pen over and thought she could erase and almost scratched the unit. It may be a few more weeks before the Acer TravelMate C303 hits shelves in quantities for everyone to advertise them. In case you have missed it, Lora put together a nice set of FAQs on the unit. She can also give you a better answer for distribution of the product.

The Acer TravelMate C303s just arrived in the US. (One here.) Its estimated street price is $2599. If you want something less expensive the C30X series has a few configuration options that can bring the price down to $1699. Resolution: the size of the appearance of items on the screen; the smaller the size, the more you can fit on the screen, and the higher the resolution The Acer C30X series uses XGA resolution, but has a larger display size. This is a normal size for most people. Some people, like developers, engineers, graphics designers, photographers, etc. want to fit more onto a screen at once and don't mind that it will appear smaller in size. In short, it sounds like you'll be happy with the Acer. In terms of software for teachers, check out Agilix GoBinder. It is designed specifically for people who work in education. (Oh, some of the pens you can flip upside down to use as an eraser. Our niece was used to an Acer C104 and went to use an NEC Versa Litepad and that pen does not have an eraser on top, so scratched the screen.)

I enjoy my Toshiba I enjoy my Toshiba. It seems to have a well-rounded set of features. I also enjoy the SpiveyWorks Notes software on it because it is less clunky than Microsoft OneNote. You can get your thoughts down quicker, and it has some cool features like having your hand-written notes read back to you in a computer generated voice! :detective

Price and options for the C303 series Would you believe I registered on this forum just to post this reply? I guess everyone does at some point :angel_not Anyway, I've been on the tablet PC hunt for several weeks now, and have decided that the Acer C303XMi-g is what I'm getting. Watch out though! There are numerous configurations for the C303 series. RAM varies from 128MB to 1Gb HD from 60 to 80 with or w/o 802.11g (technically, anything with "-g" at the end of the part number should support both the 802.11b and 11g protocols, but several sites mis-quote the part number, calling it a "-g" where it only has 11b) with or w/o BlueTooth DVD/CD-RW or DVD-RW or DVD±RW Lots of sites offer the C303 for cheaper, but will gyp you on some of the options. The site that seems to have all the options (1Gb RAM, 80 GB HD, 802.11b/g, BlueTooth, DVD±RW) with the best price is mwave.com. Here's where you can buy it for $2250 + S&H: http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec....iteria=3436417 If anyone finds better, please post. Cheers,

Don't bother with Acer. Don't even consider it if you're thinking of ACTUALLY using the product. It will break, like most products do, but Acer will break very easily and very quickly. Build quality of Acer products are absolutely disgusting. I've had an Acer Tablet PC C111 and it's been a disgrace since I handed over £1399 for it. Ripped of as well. Their support is slow and awful. Simple as that really. Stay away from Acer at all costs or you will get robbed.
