Smedley?

Hello Forum Members!

I found this sight thru Google, while looking for potential fixes for 100% CPU usage on my OQO.

I have an OQO 1+ Tablet UMPC running;
XP Professional version 5.1.2600 SP2 Build 2600 (Tablet)
MS Office 2000 Premium with all features set to "run from my computer."
Agilix Franklin Covey PlanPlus for Outlook
Sony Memory Stick Voice Editor Recorder - (The Dragonsoft Naturally Speaking Preferred 7 app that came with it failed to install.)
IE 7, Firefox is also installed.

I would consider myself a decent user, but I am not technical. I will lurk and search before I post any questions, but if anyone has any suggestions for the following list of things I hope to accomplish please PM me.

My system is agonizingly slow. From boot to where I don't even want to use it. I am considering a complete format and reinstall of everything but need a walkthruogh that specifically explains how to configure the OQO to boot drivers for an external optical drive.

When reviewing System Information in Outlook, under "About Microsoft Outlook" - "System Information" - "Software Environment" - "Startup Programs" - Every program is listed twice and some are listed multiple times. It looks like the programs in Startup are being called twice and judging by the resource usage running at least twice. The user column either shows Default or NT Authority.

Once I have the OQO running as expected, I would like to configure different hardware profiles so I can boot according to my environment, minimizing boot time and maximizing battery life. At home I have one way of accessing my internet account (wifi), at work another (LAN), and a third for when I am travelling.(Rogers portable internet)

I am also a member at Handtops.com and OQOTalk.com

Cheers,

Smedley
